Около 10 тыс. человек приняли участие в митинге-реквиеме, посвященном Дню всенародной памяти жертв Великой Отечественной войны, в мемориальном комплексе "Брестская крепость-герой", передает корреспондент БЕЛТА.
Траурная церемония началась в половине четвертого утра с лазерной постановки "Вторжение" под фонограмму из знаменитой симфонии Дмитрия Шостаковича. Предрассветную тишину разорвали пулеметные выстрелы и залпы артиллерийской батареи. На установленном у Вечного огня экране сменялись фотографии защитников крепости. Ведущие рассказывали истории их героической гибели. На площади Церемониалов собрались тысячи людей. Самые почетные гости мероприятия - ветераны - разместились на специально установленных для них стульях.
Встречать рассвет 22 июня в цитадели над Бугом для многих уже стало традицией. С каждым годом число участников памятных мероприятий в Брестской крепости только увеличивается. "Это траурный день. Но вместе с тем мы должны его помнить, чтить. Здесь в первые часы войны наши воины проявили мужество и героизм, дали достойный отпор гитлеровским оккупантам. Память о тех событиях будет жить долго на белорусской земле", - сказал, общаясь с журналистами, председатель Брестского облисполкома Анатолий Лис.
Вспомнить одну из самых трагических страниц в истории народа в Брест приехали полтора десятка делегаций, в том числе официальные из Москвы, Ставрополья, Ленинградской области. Своих представителей направила ассоциация воинов-интернационалистов Калининградской области, Киевское товарищество ветеранов разведки ВМФ. Среди гостей - участники международного военно-исторического слета "22 июня. Брестская крепость", бронепробега "Дорога мужества", международного мотоавтопробега "Победа без границ".
Вместе с брестчанами все они прошли сегодня символической "Дорогой памяти". Путь от главного входа в мемориал - "Звезды" - до площади Церемониалов освещали прожекторы, фонари, лампады. На экранах демонстрировались кадры советской довоенной кинохроники. В это время циферблат отсчитывал последние часы и минуты мирной жизни.
"В такие минуты по-особому чувствуешь разницу между мирными днями и временем военного лихолетья, понимаешь цену жизни. В тысячелетней истории города было много войн, периодов расцвета и упадка. Сегодня Брест - красивый, современный европейский город. Но каждый раз, обращаясь к многовековой истории, мы обязаны помнить подвиг тех, кто в суровом 1941 году дал нам возможность жить в свободной суверенной Беларуси", - сказал председатель Брестского горисполкома Александр Рогачук.
По сложившейся традиции пограничники Бреста опустили венки в воды Буга. Венки и цветы легли к Вечному огню и плитам некрополя. Минутой молчания присутствующие почтили память всех жертв минувшей войны.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English.
