Momentum in the trade between Belarus and Russia’s St. Petersburg continues, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a meeting with Governor of the city Alexander Beglov in St. Petersburg on 25 October, BelTA has learned.
"We came with a large delegation. Today we will hold a meeting of the Business Cooperation Council which we chair. The results are not bad. Trade is growing; new projects are springing up. This year and early next year, many large contracts to supply Belarusian passenger and utility vehicles to St. Petersburg will be completed. We intend to discuss ways to continue this cooperation, taking into account your focus on the development of a comfortable urban environment," Roman Golovchenko said.
He hailed the cooperation with the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant as Belarusian enterprises are starting using new components and parts to manufacture tractors. Good cooperation has been established between Belarus and St. Petersburg in the field of elevator production sector. "The agenda of cooperation is extensive. I am sure that we will find solutions to the current issues in order not to keep up the pace of our cooperation," the prime minister added.
Alexander Beglov noted that a number of agreements important for the development of relations will be signed today. "As of today, our trade has reached almost $3 billion. Cooperation helps enterprises of Belarus and St. Petersburg to be competitive not only in our countries but also in foreign markets," the governor said.
Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko arrived in St. Petersburg on a working visit on 24 October. According to the government press service, during the visit Roman Golovchenko will take part in a meeting of the Business Cooperation Council. Roman Golovchenko is also expected to visit St. Petersburg Tractor Plant, a fair of Belarusian goods in St. Petersburg and see a site with Belarusian equipment.
