Lukashenko: I do everything so that we will not have to take up arms

At a solemn gathering to mark the 30th anniversary of the President's Security Service on 25 October Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that he is doing everything he can to prevent situations when Belarusians will have to take up arms, BelTA has learned.

“We are living through difficult times. I am doing everything to ensure that we will not have to take up arms and shoot. Only for training purposes. But if things get tough, you should know that we will take the lead. You will be at the vanguard, including the president. Such is our life. But let's do everything to prevent such situations,” the Belarusian leader said.

“Now, when a great number of conflicts are flaring up in the world, when the security architecture is changing, and risks and threats are growing, a crisis in the work of intelligence services of many countries has become more pronounced,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

The head of state recalled that this year alone, there have been multiple attempts to assassinate former US president and 2024 presidential election candidate  Donald Trump, and several bullets were fired into Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico right at a rally, in the presence of his bodyguards.

The head of state recalled that this year alone, there have been multiple attempts to assassinate former US president and 2024 presidential election candidate Donald Trump, and several bullets were fired into Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico right at a rally, in the presence of his personal guards.

“Therefore, the greatest strength of the President's Security Service is its military personnel,” the president emphasized.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the past 30 years have shown that the employees of the President's Security Service are more than just professionals. “The service should be able to provide personnel for any sector, not just the military. You continue to serve the country and the people even after being transferred into the reserve. You work in various organizations. You have proven yourself well in responsible government roles, including high-ranking positions. This will remain so,” the Belarusian leader said.

“And in general, I believe there is no job that our employee, former or active, could not handle. True, they say that there are no former employees. As a president and as a human being I truly appreciate your work. I have no doubt that you will continue to be worthy of the high title of an employee of the President's Security Service and that Belarus will always be under your reliable protection. Time has chosen us for a reason,” the head of state said.

The president thanked all veterans and active employees for their service and presented state awards to the most distinguished employees. Aleksandr Lukashenko wished them good health and new professional successes, and their families - happiness, inexhaustible  strength and patience, because many victories are forged in the rear, the head of state remarked.

Chief of the President's Security Service Dmitry Shakhrayev thanked Aleksandr Lukashenko for the support provided to the service, and presented the head of state with a jubilee medal in honor of the 30th anniversary of the President's Security Service.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English. We hear nothing about Belarus here in the US so I am so glad to learn about your country. Keep on broadcasting in English. I also joined the Hoererklub on Facebook as I can understand German. If you have information or a station pennant, I will very much appreciate it.
