Gerade in schwierigen Zeiten gewinnt die Idee der Städtepartnerschaften an Bedeutung. Diese Meinung äußerte Ania Gralak, Vertreterin der Deutschen Botschaft in Belarus, beim 12. Treffen der Partnerstädte von Belarus und Deutschland im Haus der Freundschaft.
"Ich freue mich, hier bei Ihnen zu sein, bei denen, die sich aktiv für die Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Deutschland und Belarus einsetzen", sagte Ania Gralak. - Es gebe nur wenige Initiativen, die ein so deutliches und ausdrucksstarkes Symbol für Versöhnung, internationale Zusammenarbeit und gegenseitiges Verständnis zwischen verschiedenen Ländern seien wie die Partnerstädte.
"Es ist wirklich die größte Friedensbewegung", fügte die Diplomatin hinzu. - Allein in Deutschland unterhalten 6.000 Städte Beziehungen zu Partnerstädten in anderen Ländern. Das sind Hunderttausende von Menschen, die in Bereichen wie Kunst, Kultur, Religion, Sport, Wirtschaft kommunizieren, zusammenarbeiten, gemeinsam neue Projekte schaffen, sich austauschen und kennen lernen".
Ania Gralak wies darauf hin, dass die Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Deutschland und Belarus schon seit vielen Jahren bestehe und es viele interessante Projekte gebe. "Leider sind die Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Belarus heute weit von dem entfernt, was sie sein könnten", sagte sie. - Dabei ist es gerade in dieser schwierigen politischen Situation umso wichtiger, die Städtepartnerschaft als Chance für den zwischenmenschlichen Austausch in unseren Ländern zu erhalten".
"Gerade in schwierigen Zeiten kommt der Idee der Städtepartnerschaft eine besondere Bedeutung zu, Brücken zwischen den Menschen zu bauen, Stereotype übereinander abzubauen und ein besseres Verständnis für andere Kulturen zu entwickeln", resümierte Ania Gralak. Die Botschaftsvertreterin wünschte allen neue Begegnungen, einen interessanten interkulturellen Dialog und erfolgreiche Projekte.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English.
