白俄罗斯外交部表示："看来，拉脱维亚政治家在竞选期间选择的故意煽动与邻国关系的歇斯底里的路线，以及他们总是站在泛欧主流的前列的传统愿望，正在激起他们采取超出我们理解的行动。首先，我们谈论的是拉脱维亚对伟大卫国战争受害者的记忆的毁灭和对纪念碑的野蛮破坏，因另类意见驱逐本国公民的另类意见，对俄语的针对性歧视，对观看新闻电视频道的严厉罚款。＂
据外交部称，在这种背景下，退出与白俄罗斯方面白方的国际协议的举措并不令人惊讶："拉脱维亚官僚机构的惩罚之剑已经落在了诸如服务军犬饲养、统计、法医学和农业等所谓 "威胁邻国安全 "的合作领域。现在轮到跨境合作和能源领域的合作了。＂
