Le Bélarus et la Turquie ont l’intention d’augmenter leurs échanges commerciaux jusqu’à 1,5 milliard de dollars, comme l’ont annoncé Alexandre Loukachenko et Recep Tayyip Erdogan à l’issue des négociations à Ankara. Le président turc a rappelé qu’en 2016 les parties s’étaient fixé l’objectif d’atteindre un milliard de dollars d’échanges. L’année dernière, les pays ont presque réussi à atteindre ce chiffre. Alexandre Loukachenko a reconnu que le niveau actuel des échanges commerciaux ne correspondait pas au potentiel des relations entre le Bélarus et la Turquie:
« Lorsque nous avons pris la décision sur 1 milliard de dollars d’échanges, nous étions assez réservés. Je ne pensais pas que nous atteindrions cet objectif si rapidement. Et aujourd’hui, nous parlons déjà de 1,5 milliard de dollars. J’ai promis au président turc que nous n’aurions jamais de sujets fermés dans nos relations qu’il s’agisse des produits alimentaires ou de la coopération dans le complexe militaro-industriel. A cet égard nous sommes déterminés à prendre des mesures sérieuses et radicales. En deux ans qui ont suivi la visite du président turc au Bélarus, les échanges commerciaux ont augmenté de 20%. C’est une très bonne croissance, mais les chiffres ne correspondent pas au potentiel de nos deux pays. Nous sommes capables et nous fairons beaucoup plus que nous avons déjà fait au cours de ces deux années. »
Un forum d’affaires s’est tenu pendant la visite d’Alexandre Loukachenko à Ankara. Les représentants des entreprises biélorusses et turques ont discuté la mise en œuvre des projets en cours et les nouvelles perspectives de coopération. Des contrats d’un montant de 325 millions de dollars ont été conclus à l’issue des négociations et des réunions.
