亚历山大·卢卡申科说：“我和上一任国际象棋协会主席有过多次见面，对他很了解，我们谈过白俄罗斯国际象棋运动的发展。我是一个喜欢全方面发展的人，任何运动对我来说都很重要，从冰球到花样滑冰，再到国际象棋。白俄罗斯可以说是一个强大的国际象棋强国，我们的象棋学校一直都很好。我看到了他们最近有所进展，所以才有了今天的会谈。”
国家元首祝贺阿尔卡迪·德沃尔科维奇当选国际象棋联合会主席。他在2018年10月世界国际象棋联合会全体会议上获得这一职位。 在同一场会议上还选出了世界国际象棋联合会副主席兼白俄罗斯代表，阿纳斯塔西·拉索罗基纳 获得了多数选票。 阿纳斯塔西·拉索罗基纳称国际象棋联合会计划重新调整其工作，以确保国际象棋运动在全球范围内的发展，而不仅仅是在个别国家。
2018年10月，在国际国际象棋联合会世界大会上，白俄罗斯获得了在2022年8月举办世界国际象棋奥林匹克大会、2020年妇女国际象棋大赛和2021年男子国际象棋大会的权利。 世界国际象棋奥林匹克将持续两周。
在此期间，白俄罗斯将迎来3000多名到访者。共有180个国家的约2000名棋手参赛，共同参赛的还有陪同人员、游客和记者。 白俄罗斯国际象棋联合会于1992年在世界国际象棋联合会上宣布成立。该组织有2 000多名成员，其中21位是大师，31位是国际大师，52位世界级大师。 在过去十年中，白俄罗斯运动员在正式国际比赛中获得162枚奖牌。

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English. We hear nothing about Belarus here in the US so I am so glad to learn about your country. Keep on broadcasting in English. I also joined the Hoererklub on Facebook as I can understand German.
