Беларусы Андрэй Праневіч і Уладзімір Ізотаў заваявалі залатыя медалі на XV летніх Паралімпійскіх гульнях у Рыа-дэ-Жанэйра.
У спаборніцтвах па фехтаванні сярод шпажыстаў-калясачнікаў Андрэй Праневіч быў мацнейшы за брытанца Дзімітры Куцья (15:13) і ўкраінца Алега Навуменку (15:8), а ў фінале ён зрабіў вырашальны рэзультатыўны выпад і перамог Алі Амара з Ірака (15:14). Трэцяе месца на п'едэстале гонару заняў Алег Навуменка, які ўзяў верх над французам Янікам Іфебе (15:5).
У спаборніцтвах на шпагах сярод жанчын дзве беларускі выйшлі ў васьмёрку мацнейшых. Алеся Макрыцкая ўступіла немцы Сімоне Брызе-Батке (9:15), якая заняла ў турніры 4-е месца, а Настасся Касцюшкова ўступіла кітаянцы Чжой Цзіньцзінь (4:15), якая, перамогшы беларуску, у фінале заваявала залатую ўзнагароду.
У турніры сярод плыўцоў у катэгорыі SB12 беларус Уладзімір Ізотаў стаў лепшым на дыстанцыі 100 м брасам з новым паралімпійскім рэкордам - 1 мін 06,82 сек. Ранейшае дасягненне (1 мін 04,07 сек) таксама належала Уладзіміру Ізотаву, якое ён устанавіў у Лондане ў 2012 годзе, дзе стаў бронзавым прызёрам. Таксама на рахунку Уладзіміра Ізотава бронзавая ўзнагарода ў Пекіне ў 2008-м. Другое месца на дыстанцыі 100 м брасам у катэгорыі SB 12 у Рыа заняў Дзмітрый Салей з Азербайджана, які раней выступаў за Беларусь - 1 мін 08,80 сек. Бронзавую ўзнагароду выйграў украінец Дзмітрый Вяракса - 1 мін 09,00 сек.
У спаборніцтвах па лёгкай атлетыцы 13 верасня капітан беларускай паралімпійскай зборнай Ганна Канюк змагалася за медалі ў скачках у даўжыню ў катэгорыі T12 і заняла 5-е месца. У кіданні кап'я ў катэгорыі F46 беларус Аляксандр Субота заняў 11-е месца.
Дзякуючы двум залатым медалям скарбонка зборнай Беларусі значна папоўнілася. На рахунку беларускіх паралімпійцаў сем узнагарод (пяць залатых і дзве бронзавыя), яны займаюць 13-е месца ў медальным заліку. Лідзіруюць па вартасці ўзнагарод кітайскія спартсмены - 63 залатыя медалі, якія камандзе ўжо ўдалося выйграць у Рыа.
