Minsk hosts official event dedicated to 89th anniversary of Chinese People's Liberation Army

Over recent years traditional friendly relations between the Armed Forces of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus are becoming stronger, said Air Force attaché under the People's Republic of China Embassy Sheng Yuezhong addressing Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff, First Deputy Minister of the Armed Forces major-general Oleg Belokonev, Chairman of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Maltsev, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yury Karaev, and also all in attendance at the event dedicated to 89^th anniversary of Chinese People's Liberation Army.

“Since our army was born on August 1, 1927 it has undergone a unique historical development path. Facing difficult and fluid situation in the security sphere, Chinese People's Liberation Army carries out its historical mission in the new century and constantly increases the ability to react to different security threats and carry out diversified military tasks”, said Sheng Yuezhong. “Dear comrades and friends, the destiny of China and the whole world is closely interrelated. Prosperity and stability in the world open new possibilities for China to develop. In turn, peaceful development of China offers plenty of opportunities to the whole world. Being a peaceful country China follows peaceful development strategy. China follows an independent, peaceful and defensive foreign policy.

China is against any forms of hegemonism and big stick policy. Chinese Army will always be effective force not only to defend national sovereignty, security and interests of development, social harmony and stability but also to defend peace, security and stability in the whole world.

Over recent years traditional friendly relations between the Armed Forces of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus are becoming stronger. Reciprocal visits of delegations on a higher level are taking place, business exchange between the Armed Forces is expanding, military technical cooperation is becoming stronger. All that lay foundation to make friendship and cooperation between the two countries even stronger. I am sure that business cooperation between the Armed Forces that is based on all-round strategic partnership will be more fruitful”, said Sheng Yuezhong in his welcoming speech.

In turn, at the event dedicated to 89th anniversary of Chinese People's Liberation Army with the participation of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff, First Deputy Minister of the Armed Forces of Belarus major-general Oleg Belokonev expressed confidence that the relationship between the two armies would be beneficial for Belarusian and Chinese nations and promote regional and global security.

“Belarus and China managed to build up all-round strategic partnership relations based on traditional friendship and mutual respect.

Even though our countries are situated far from each other, Chinese and Belarusian nations have much in common including mentality. Our people are hardworking, kind and preserve their traditions.

Primarily thanks to the friendship between leaders of the two countries we have upward trend in the development of cooperation in all possible spheres.

In May 2015 during the official visit of President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to Belarus heads of states signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation and also the Belarusian-Chinese joint declaration on further development and strengthening of all-round strategic partnership.

Our countries agreed to be in close coordination, to promote the creation of “Silk Road Economic Belt”, thus opening new prospects for Belarusian-Chinese cooperation.

Thanks to skilful leadership of the Communist Party in the past decade China achieved good results in many spheres. The planned path of development “promotion of quality of economy development” inspires respect.

By means of denying ultra high growth rates, Chinese economy moved in the “new normal” stage where priorities aimed at improving the life of people play center stage.

Chinese People's Liberation Army has also undergone qualitative transformational changes. Apart from the reform of military administration and optimization of military structure China actively modernizes the Armed Forces where technological innovations and reforms are the key factor of development of the army and national defense.

Today we can be sure that Chinese People's Liberation Army is a modern, well equipped military component of the state. The Army contributes a lot to strengthening of regional and global security.

The key element of Belarusian-Chinese relations is active cooperation between military agencies of Belarus and China. I am glad to observe that this cooperation develops dynamically and systematically and it is a good example of sensible bilateral relationship building.

Exchange of delegations on a higher level and expert level is taking place on a regular basis. During these meetings with Chinese counterparts we discuss bilateral cooperation issues including joint strengthening of international security, force development, exchange of experience, preparation of military personnel in Belarus and China, joint combat trainings. Since 2011 on the territory of our countries a joint antiterrorist training “Dashing Eagle” is taking place.

The achieved results are a solid basis for the development of further sustained, mutually beneficial cooperation and make it possible to say that the high level and dynamic character of Belarusian-Chinese relations in military sphere will be preserved in the future.

We are very glad that on September 3, 2016 in Beijing Belarusian and Chinese military personnel shoulder to shoulder marched on Tiananmen Square showing the whole world inviolability of heroic history of our nations.

Let me also express gratitude to Dear Mr. Ambassador for your important and noble work carried out by the Embassy and connected with support of our veterans, those who fought against Japanese militarists.

To sum it up, I would like to express confidence that the relations between our armies will be beneficial for nations if the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China, promote regional and global security.

Let me, dear comrade senior colonel Sheng Yuezhong, wish luck and welfare, peace and prosperity, happiness and further success to all military men and veterans of Chinese People's Liberation Army.
