The first train loaded with construction materials for the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone has arrived at the Belarusian railway freight station Kolyadichi near Minsk. The construction materials that have been delivered from China to Belarus are intended for building the commercial hub and the logistics hub of the company China Merchants Group, which is a resident company of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. Metal structures represent the bulk of the construction materials, said Hu Zheng, member of the China Merchants Group Board of Directors, general representative of China Merchants Group’s office in Central Asia and the Baltic states:
    (record)

"This train brought to Belarus 41 containers with 800 tonnes of metal structures. It left China and arrived directly in Minsk, crossing China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus on its way, four countries in total. This is a fine example of long-distance, trans-border delivery.  It took 16 days to deliver the cargo by rail. At least 25 days would be needed to deliver the cargo by sea Container delivery by rail is much faster, resulting in more effective construction efforts in the end."

China Merchants Group is one of the key residents of the industrial park Great Stone from the point of view of development of the project and the amount that will be invested. Suggested investments will stand at to $500 million, said Deputy Minister of Economy of Belarus, current head of the China-Belarus industrial park administration Alexander Yaroshenko.
According to him, the signing of a protocol of intent to use the warehouse and exhibition and business center that will be built by China Merchants CHN-BLR Commercial and Logistics Company is a key event:

(Record)

“I am happy to say that among the companies that take part in this project are also those from Belarus. For instance, among them is well-known Belarusian producer of crystal ware Nioman. We expect that their cooperation with the Chinese company in selling their products will help them reduce prime costs, as Merchants Group will help them save on transportation. This means that Nioman's products will be competitive in the huge Chinese market.”

Also, Belarus and China are planning to create a venture capital fund for the commercialization of scientific and technical developments. The relevant plans became known after the meeting of chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus Alexander Shumilin with member of the China Merchants Group Board of Directors, general representative of China Merchants Group’s representative office in Central Asia and the Baltic states Hu Zheng.
According to Alexander Shumilin, Belarus and China should step up efforts to attract new residents to the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone to jointly develop high-tech products and set up compnaies. He noted that the park will attract more companies that dominate in high-tech sectors of the economy. In his turn, Hu Zheng stressed the high level of scientific and technological developments in Belarus. "The country has very high commitment to innovation, besides its universities regularly enter prestigious rankings, which indicates a well-developed system of education and a high level of literacy among the population", - he said. At the same time, Hu Zheng pointed out that the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone is, first of all, a universal platform for bilateral cooperation in the creation and production of joint high-tech products.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English. We hear nothing about Belarus here in the US so I am so glad to learn about your country. Keep on broadcasting in English. I also joined the Hoererklub on Facebook as I can understand German. If you have information or a station pennant, I will very much appreciate it.
