Belavia launches first charter flight to Oman

The Belarusian airline Belavia has launched its first charter to Oman, BelTA learned from the company’s press service.

The Belavia aircraft has left Minsk for Salalah early this morning.

Festive events have been organized at the airports of both countries to mark the launch of the new route. In Minsk travelers enjoyed a photo zone and got presents. The flight in Oman will be welcomed by Belarusian diplomats, local authorities and journalists. According to a good aviation tradition, the inaugural flight will be celebrated with a water cannon salute.

“Belarus and Oman have a great potential for cooperation,” Belavia Director General Igor Cherginets said. “The new route was opened as a result of agreements reached at the highest level between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said. The official meetings took place in late 2024. Today, in early 2025, we are already talking about the launch of the charter flight program.”

According to Igor Cherginets, the direct air service between Minsk and Salalah will have a favorable effect on the tourist flows of the two countries.

“Until recently, Belarusians could only get to Oman with a connection in third countries. The launch of the new flight will significantly simplify logistics. We see that there is demand for the destination, with the capacity of the first flight at almost 100%,” Igor Cherginets said.

Oman is a new destination for Belarusians. It is ideal for holidays both in summer and winter. The weather in the region is warm and dry in winter and pleasant and comfortable in summer. Rains and refreshing winds fill Salalah with bright green colors of gardens.

The city of Salalah is located on the coast of the Indian Ocean. Many people see vacation here as an affordable alternative to the Maldives or Seychelles. The coast features palm trees, wide beaches, azure water, dolphins and rich underwater world.

Since ancient times the country is famous for strong black coffee, which is often served with cardamom or a drop of rose water.

Citizens of Belarus do not need a visa if the stay in the country do not exceed 14 days.
