Belarusian Steel Works BMZ trademark is among the first in the CIS to get an IATF 16949:2016 certificate, BelTA quotes the BMZ press service.

The certificate was issued by TUV Rheinland Group (Cologne, Germany), a leading provider of independent audit services, following an audit conducted at BMZ in December 2017.

The document certifies the compliance with the new standard, which is extremely important for BMZ as a wide range of the company’s products is designed for the automotive industry. This applies to metal goods supplied to the world’s leading tire manufacturers, and rolled steel for the industry. “Once rolling mill No. 2 became operational, BMZ stepped up cooperation with the European companies supplying components to the leading automakers (Daimler, Volkswagen, BMW, MAN, and others) and various mechanical engineering companies. This is why the certificate is especially important to us,” the press service said.

The IATF 16949:2016 standard was published by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) in late 2016 to replace the technical specification ISO/TS 16949 adopted in 1999. The main goal of the standard has remained unchanged: it still aims to prevent defects and reduce losses throughout every supply chain. The latest version, however, envisages several important requirements: compliance of every product and process, including suppliers’ products and external processes, with every applicable legal requirement, and an uncompromising stance on product safety. The standard attaches special importance to meeting customer-specific requirements and applying different quality management methods for continuous development.

As of today, BMZ has seven quality management system certificates and over 60 production certificates, which allows the company to sell its products throughout the world.

Established in 1984, BMZ is the managing company of the holding company BMC (Belarusian Metallurgical Company). BMZ produces cast sections, long and rolled products, reinforcing bars, pipes, metal cord, high pressure wire, and other sorts of wire. BMZ sells over 80% of its output abroad.
