The opinion was voiced by Sergei Rovneiko, Aide to the Belarus President, Chief Inspector for Grodno Oblast, during the international conference held in Grodno to discuss advantages and peculiarities of doing business in the Eurasian Economic Union in 2016.
Sergei Rovneiko said: “Due to its geopolitical location Belarus consistently pursues an active integration policy, trying to improve the effectiveness of its participation in various supranational associations. The emerging slowdown of the Eurasian Economic Union’s development fails to meet interests of the Belarusian private sector and the society as a whole. Results of mutual trade — falling trade in other words — testify to the slow removal of barriers that impede the operation of the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union. According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, there are about 270 barriers, exemptions and restrictions. They should be removed faster.”
