Hammer throwers Pavel Boreisha and Sergei Kolomoyets added silver and bronze medals to Belarus’ medal haul at the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea. Pavel Boreisha claimed silver with his best result of 75.75m. Fellow Belarusian Sergei Kolomoyets won bronze with 74.68m. The champion title went to Poland’s Pawel Fajdek with his attempt of 80.05m. Earlier, Belarus’ Yevgeny Tsurkin clinched the 50m butterfly silver.
The Belarusian duet of Tatiana Klimovich and Kristina Staroselets won double sculls bronze.
Belarus goes 29th in the 2015 World University Games medal table which is currently topped by the Republic of Korea with the total of 64 (28 gold, 20 silver, 16 bronze) medals. The top three also include China with 43 (21, 13, 9) medals and Japan with 48 (16, 14, 18) medals. Russia is fourth with 63 (14, 23, 26) medals.
