President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made the statement at the final joint session of the fourth-convocation House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly.
     The head of state said that the campaign to boycott the parliamentary elections had failed miserably. It demonstrated the weakness and the cowardice of “the so-called opposition, the fifth column that is even reluctant to imitate fight for power”. “I have absolutely no reasons to gloat. To tell you the truth, I regret that we still have no normal, honest, responsible opposition that cares about Belarus instead of the splitting of foreign charity,” said the President.
      Alexander Lukashenko remarked that the Belarusian nation had made its choice. “An absolute majority of the population backed the candidates, who spoke in favor of peace and serenity in the country, in favor of continuing the social and economic policy based on independence and the protection of interests of common people,” said the head of state.
