BATE Borisov stun Bayern Munich 3-1

      FC BATE Borisov brought another sensation, having defeated last year’s Champions League finalist FC Bayern Munich on the second matchday of the Champions League group stage in Minsk with the score 3:1.
     “We must have been born under a lucky star. Emotions are overwhelming”, BATE”s head coach Victor Goncharenko said after the match:
      “I'm far from euphoric. We earned a grand victory, but you shouldn't speculate that now we have to win every match. It's the Champions League and we shouldn't forget that. BATE are the team with a big heart, the team that are thirsty for victories that want to make progress. I can continue like that. We are on the right way.
       We have a very healthy atmosphere within the team. It's a misconception that you can somehow inspire the team in the dressing room during half-time. What we did - we have changed the tactical lineup a bit and raised the speed of play. If the speed is high you create more danger and this is very important. I think we managed well there. Our team also knows how to play on the counterattack.
But of course when you play against such top clubs as Bayern there should be a bit of luck on our side and a bit of underestimation on the other side. Today we have scored three goals into Bayern’s net. That is fantastic! Now we shouldn’t pay attention to the current standings in group F, but get ready for Valencia. I would also like to thank our fans for their great support”.
      In the other match of group F Valencia defeated Lille with the score 2:0. So after two matchdays the standings in group F are the following: BATE 6 points, Bayern and Valencia have 3 points, Lille with 0 points occupy 4th place.
       On the next matchday on the 23rd of October BATE will host Valencia, while Bayern Munich will go to Lille.
