Contracts worth $250m signed during Sudan president’s visit to Belarus

Belarus and Sudan signed the contracts worth $250 million during the official visit of Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir to Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Sudan Sergei Rachkov told the media in connection with of the Belarusian-Sudanese Business Forum, BelTA reported. “We signed 17 documents. It is not only agreements and treaties but also contracts with specific numbers,” the diplomat said. According to Sergei Rachkov, bilateral cooperation holds great promise. There are certain projects, in particular, to attract companies with the Sudanese capital to Belarus in banking sector, real estate. There are plans not only to supply Belarus-made equipment but also train personnel for Sudan, Sergei Rachkov underlined. For his part, the head of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that cooperation between the two countries is developing quite dynamically. The two countries have recently taken steps to unlock new opportunities. Vladimir Ulakhovich also suggested considering subregional cooperation. “If we set up an engineering center, we should aim for other nearby markets too,” he said.
