Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko met with Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomir Zaoralek. The current situation is marked by the establishment of good relations between European states, Belarus and the Czech Republic in the first place, Belarus President said at the meeting in Minsk:

"I am happy to meet with you today. No one has ever considered either Czechoslovakia, or the Czech Republic and Slovakia as alien states for us. Belarus and the Czech Republic had a lot in common before. I would not say that everything was serene, but, I believe, that there were more good sides in our relations, although there were enough clouding factors. There were a lot of positive and negative things in the history. We should make the corresponding conclusions. I have said this to lead you to the idea that we had found strength to reverse the situation, and the current situation is seen as a period of improving relations between European states, Belarus and the Czech Republic in the first place. I am well aware of Czechia’s important role in outlining the European policy."

For his part, the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs has stressed that it is time a new chapter in the relations between Belarus and the Czech Republic was started.
