Belarus to get observer status in SCO

Belarus absolutely supports actions of the BRICS association and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the international scene. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he met with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, BelTA reports. The Belarusian head of state remarked that “at last there are organizations that risk charting a slightly different course of action in the international scene. It will benefit all the people, who live on earth. The financial and economic moves you have undertaken recently within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS represent very good directions,” said the Belarusian leader. 

In turn, Vladimir Putin pointed out that Belarus will get the observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Vladimir Putin also underlined that Belarus is the closest strategic partner and an ally of Russia.
