Attempts to rewrite history represent assaults on the rulings pronounced by the Nuremberg Trials, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told media after a joint session of the boards of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Counteracting the falsification of history is one of the areas we pay close attention to in our joint work. We are convinced that the respect for the memory of the millions of people, who gave their lives to free Europe from fascism, is incompatible with attempts to rewrite history. We deem such attempts an assault on the rulings of the Nuremberg Trials,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
Sergei Lavrov said he had discussed some other matters, too with his Belarusian counterpart Mr Vladimir Makei earlier on that day. “Among other things we discussed the support of the Russian Federation for the active involvement of the Republic of Belarus in the operation of the Council of Europe, the Council of the Baltic Sea States and other regional multilateral bodies”.
The Russian Foreign Minister believes that the results of the joint session would be able to advance the foreign policy coordination of the two countries.
