PM explains reasons for Belarus' record-high export

Robust export growth in Belarus is primarily due to the ability of domestic companies to get their bearings fast and seize the moment, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told reporters on 3 December, BelTA has learned.“I would like to give my take on what is called the Belarusian export miracle. Our critics say that it was just a matter of luck,” the head of government said.In this regard, he recalled the aphorism President Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned at the meeting on the country's social and economic development: Luck favors those who work hard for it. “And we worked really hard for it. And our enterprises kept hammering away at growing the export, hence the miracle. We didn't do anything extraordinary. We just took advantage of the situation. But we could have missed our chances as well. These are complex processes. If there is a demand for something, a lot of manufacturers are there to meet this demand. Our enterprises turned out to be agile enough, they mobilized and managed to catch this tide in time. This is the reason why the quality parameters of our export were the best in the past decade, especially non-energy exports, which is gratifying,” Roman Golovchenko said.
