Lukashenko-Putin phone call continues yesterday's talks

A phone conversation between Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin took place on 23 February in continuation of the negotiations that had been held the day before, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

According to the source, the key topics Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin have discussed included the operation of the tax system, manufacturing cooperation in defense industry, the reinforcement of the joint defense systems, and the work of mass media in modern conditions (information counteraction). Equalizing living standards for people and commercial entities in the Union State of Belarus and Russia is the key goal of the ongoing large work, the press service said.

BelTA reported earlier that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin had an informal meeting in Sochi on 22 February. It lasted for over six hours. The two heads of state spent the time talking face-to-face, skiing and riding snowmobiles, and dining. Among other things the meeting touched upon manufacturing cooperation, trade and economic cooperation, the integration agenda, and the joint fight against the coronavirus infection, including the production of a Russian vaccine in Belarus.
