Belarus calls international attention to problem of human trafficking


      Belarus attended the side events of the Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The Belarusian delegation led by Vadim Pisarevich, the head of global policy and humanitarian cooperation of the Multilateral Diplomacy Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the side event entitled “The Many Aspects of Trafficking”.
      In his statement, he reported on the Belarusian initiative to attract the international attention to trade in human organs. On the initiative of Belarus, the 25th session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention adopted a resolution on the prevention of trafficking in human organs and instructed the Office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to undertake a study that will help better understand the problem and identify ways for a possible UN involvement in its solution.
