Draft Belarus-Turkey agreement on readmission approved as basis for further talks

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has approved a draft agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on readmission as a basis for further talks.
Interior Minister Igor Shunevich has been authorized to negotiate the draft and sign the agreement.
As previously reported with reference to the Interior Ministry of Belarus, there were plans to sign the agreement on visa-free travel with Turkey together with the agreement on readmission, in accordance with world practice. “A readmission agreement imposes mutual obligations on the parties to take back their own nationals, third-country nationals and stateless persons illegally entering the territory of one party or staying there without legal justification, if these persons arrive from the territory of the other country-party to the agreement,” the Interior Ministry stressed.
President Alexander Lukashenko signed the decree approving the draft agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on visa-free travel as a basis for further talks on 13 October 2011.
