CIS diplomats speak in favor of stronger UN for peace and security

      Consultations between representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs and embassies of the CIS member states about the agenda of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly took place in Moscow, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee reported. The discussion was focused on the joint work of the CIS delegations in the United Nations Organization, priorities of the UN General Assembly’s 70th session, including multilateral cooperation in environmental protection and the protection of traditional family values. In view of the current global situation participants of the consultations spoke in favor of strengthening the UN’s central role in ensuring peace, stability, and the supremacy of international law. The consultations demonstrated a committed attitude towards tighter coordination on the UN platform, thus testifying to the rising potential of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The sides reached an agreement on continuing regular contacts between delegations of the CIS member states during the UNGA’s 70th session.
