Minsk hosts the practical part of the "Regional Security" computer-assisted command post exercise of the CIS united air defense system. It's the first time the exercise is held in this format. The rapid development of technology brought about the need to expand the list of tasks to counter new challenges and threats that the joint CIS air defense system is designed to address. Among the main objectives of the exercise is improving the efficiency of combat use of troops of the united air defense system in the Eastern European region. The exercise involves fighter pilots, transport and assault aircraft crews, as well as nearly all anti-aircraft missile divisions and radio engineering units. Earlier, the Military Delegates of the Coordinating Committee for Air Defense approved plans for joint air defense exercise at the Ashuluk training range in Astrakhan. The delegations of the Defense Ministries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee participated in the meeting.
