World Bank eager to raise portfolio of active loans in Belarus to over $1bn


    The World Bank intends to increase the volume of active loans in Belarus to over $1 billion in 2017, BelTA quotes Young Chul Kim, World Bank Country Manager for Belarus.
     “For the last three years the World Bank Group has been investing in Belarus much more. We have tripled our investments in the country. In 2013 our project portfolio was $375 million. In 2016 it increased to $998 million. On 18 November we will launch another project for modernizing the healthcare system to the tune of $125 million. In January 2017 we intend to start the project meant to bolster the competitive ability of manufacturers to the tune of $80 million. Soon we will cross the $1 billion mark because we see good prospects for economic growth,” noted Young Chul Kim. The executive explained that the number of projects, which are being implemented in Belarus with assistance of the World Bank has increased from five in 2013 to nine in 2016.
