Belarus president attends army parade in Beijing


       Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko attended the army parade that took place in Beijing to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the war against Japan and the end of World War Two. The leaders were greeted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tiananmen Square. After posing for a group photo the heads of state, including Alexander Lukashenko, went on to watch the parade. Taking [part in it was a unit of the Belarusian army, the guard of honor company, which included flag bearers, officers, and 70 men on foot in a box formation.
       If a 1.5-billion population of China remembers and venerates the truth about World War Two, no one will be  allowed to distort it, bury it in oblivion, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview to the Chinese newspaper Renmin Ribao ahead of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China. “As a well-known saying goes, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. In this context China has a special mission,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
