UN should not lag behind in any area of its efforts, Ban Ki-moon says

The United Nations Organization should not lag behind in any area of its efforts – peace, development, human rights, supremacy of the law, expansion of the rights and opportunities of women and young people all over the world.
The relevant statement was made as part of the UN Secretary General’s address timed to the United Nations Day, representatives of the UN Public Information Department in Belarus report.
The United Nations Day has been celebrated since 24 October 1948. In 1971 the UN General Assembly passed a resolution saying that the member states should celebrate the day as a national holiday.
Ban Ki-moon’s address says: “We live in an extremely tense time, the age of radical changes and profound transformations. Such problems like security threats, inequality, and intolerance are rising. Global and national institutions have to pass their durability test. In this most responsible period the United  Nations Organization should not lag in any area of its efforts”.
Let’s note that Belarus actively participates in the work of UN bodies.
Belarus is engaged in the work of different UN Committees, dealing with broad range of issues, such as the Commission on Sustainable Development, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the Commission on the Status of Women, the Committee for Program and Coordination.
