Joint projects, agriculture, tourism. Belarus, Russia’s Oryol Oblast deepen partnership

The third meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Russia’s Oryol Oblast is taking place in Brest, BelTA has learned.

The parties support trade and economic cooperation and interact in manufacturing, agriculture, education, culture, and other areas.

“Over the past five years, mutual trade between Belarus and Oryol Oblast has increased 2.8 times. Growth is also observed today. We have cooperation projects, including in industrial production. Oryol Oblast has an excellent furniture cluster that we will work with. Another area is cooperation in products for the processing industry. Brest Oblast and Belarus as a whole and Oryol Oblast have many complementary areas,” said Brest Oblast Deputy Governor Mikhail Batsenko. In particular, this concerns supplies of Belarusian-made machinery, which has proven itself well in Oryol Oblast.

“I think today we will find reserves that must definitely be utilized. That is why the working group was created: to openly discuss all issues, not only successes, but also areas where we can still improve,” Mikhail Batsenko emphasized.

Oryol Oblast Governor Andrey Klychkov highlighted the positive dynamics of relations and joint projects. For example, a multibrand center of Belarusian machinery has opened in Oryol. “All the tasks that were set have been fulfilled. But I believe the overall economic situation requires a more detailed study of current opportunities. We see enormous potential, because at the moment exports from Oryol Oblast to Belarus are actively growing. There is also a trend toward increased imports. There is room for developing cooperation,” Andrey Klychkov said.

Business communities have established cooperation, he noted. The parties work productively in breeding, variety testing, and primary seed production of legumes, cereals, and other crops using modern technologies. There is great potential for developing cooperation in education and culture.

Visits to enterprises and tourist sites are planned for the guests. “We pay attention not only to the economy (exports and imports), agriculture, and manufacturing. One of the topics is tourism,” added the deputy governor of Brest Oblast.
