Belarus has increased its supplies of agricultural products to Tajikistan by 20%, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
A meeting of the Belarusian part of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation with Tajikistan was held via videoconference and chaired by Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov. The minister, who oversees this strategic area of cooperation, together with authorized ministries and agricultural organizations, discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation and preparations for the 19th meeting of the commission, which is due to take place in Brest in late July.
“The agricultural and industrial sector remains a reliable driver of mutually beneficial relations. In 2025, trade in food products and agricultural raw materials exceeded the 2024 level by 61.4%, and exports rose by 63.4%. The positive trend has continued in 2026: over the first five months, supplies increased by almost 20%. Belarus’ main exports include meat and meat products, sugar and dairy products, with dairy exports nearly tripling,” the ministry said.
Cooperation with Tajikistan has long extended beyond trade in goods to include industrial cooperation, construction, transport and healthcare. In the agricultural sector, tangible results have already been achieved, with nine Belarusian veterinary medicines registered on the Tajik market.
Scientific cooperation is also expanding. Belarusian agricultural higher education institutions are working with four research centers in Tajikistan. In addition, Tajik citizens are studying at Belarusian agricultural universities, helping build a strong pool of qualified specialists for future joint projects.
“The upcoming meeting in Brest will mark another milestone in export diversification and the strengthening of the partnership between the two countries,” the press service added.
