Belarus sows sugar beet on 95% of designated areas

Sugar beet has been sown on 95% of designated areas in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
 
According to operational data as of 24 April 2026, a total of 1,010,000 hectares of spring crops have been sown in the country, which represents 44% of the total sowing area of 2.294 million hectares. The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast – 199,000 hectares, or 48% of the planned area; Vitebsk Oblast – 146,000 hectares (45% of the plan); Gomel Oblast – 141,000 hectares (35% of the plan); Grodno Oblast – 174,000 hectares (52% of the plan); Minsk Oblast – 206,000 hectares (41% of the plan); Mogilev Oblast – 144,000 hectares (44% of the plan).
 
Fiber flax has been sown in all regions across an area of 39,000 hectares, which is 87% of the plan of 44,000 hectares. Corn has been sown on 155,000 hectares, which is 12% of the plan of 1,283,000 hectares.
 
Spring rapeseed has been sown on 28,000 hectares, or 71% of the 40,000-hectare plan. Sugar beets have been sown on an area exceeding 101,000 hectares, which is 95% of the planned area of 106,000 hectares.
 
Mineral fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) accumulated for the 2026 spring sowing amount to 760,000 tonnes of active ingredient, which is 91% of the plan of 836,000 tonnes. Organic fertilizers applied for spring sowing total 37 million tonnes, representing 72% of the amount transported to the fields.
 
Potatoes have been planted on over 2,000 hectares across all regions of the country, which is 9% of the plan of 22,000 hectares.
