Defense Ministry: Poland fails to notify Belarus of Dragon 2024 exercise

Valery Revenko

Poland not only failed to provide Belarus with the annual information on its military forces. It also failed to send notification about the Dragon 2024 exercise within the prescribed 42 days, Colonel Valery Revenko, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Belarusian Defense Minister, told the media, BelTA has learned from the Defense Ministry.

NATO’s declarations about their commitment to the Vienna Document 2011 obligationscontradict their reality.

“Dragon 2024 is a notifiable exercise and is subject to obligatory observation. According to official data, it will involve about 20,000 people from 10 NATO member states. However, Poland ignored its obligation to send us an invitation to observe it,” Valery Revenko noted.

This issue was raised at the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation (FSC) on 14 February, he noted. Poland was urged to return to the international treaties framework and to abandon the path leading to the final destruction of the global security architecture. “No constructive reaction from Poland followed as expected,” Valery Revenko added.
