Belarus in FAO: Any restrictions on free trade in fertilizers are unacceptable

The Permanent Missions of Belarus and Russia held a joint thematic event "Sustainable agricultural production: The Role of fertilizers" at the FAO on 30 November, BelTA has learned.

 

The representative of Belarus to the FAO, Kirill Petrovsky, noted: "Any restrictions on free trade in fertilizers are unacceptable and have negative consequences for consumer countries, primarily those suffering from food shortages."

 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event brought together representatives of the EU, China, and many other countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In a few days, on 4 December, the FAO Council will convene for the next meeting. One of the main items on the agenda will be "Global food security challenges and its drivers ".

 

Belarus, as a member of the FAO Council, plans to re-initiate a discussion of the problem of sanctions, which are disastrous for hundreds of millions of people on the planet.
