Belarus will take part in the OSCE conference “Internet 2013: Shaping policies to advance media freedom”, First Deputy Head of the Operational and Analytical Center under the Aegis of the President of Belarus Vladimir Ryabovolov told media. Taking part in the conference will be 250 participants from all over the OSCE region. Belarus’ delegation will be represented by First Deputy Head of the Operational and Analytical Center under the Aegis of the President of Belarus Vladimir Ryabovolov. He will take part in the panel discussion of the approaches to Internet regulation involving a wide range of stakeholders. Taking part in the conference will be founder of the portal TUT.BY Yuri Zisser who will represent the civil society. According to Vladimir Ryabovolov, Internet technologies are vigorously developing in Belarus; the external gateway is expanding; the number of Internet users is on the rise. Belarus is implementing large-scale projects in information and telecommunications, like construction of a new transit communication main line, introduction of LTE technologies, and creation of the single data transmission network. Belarus’ efforts and achievements will be presented at the forum. Yuri Zisser also touched upon Internet restrictions. These restrictions are voluntary for ordinary users. “For half of the year I have never had any problems opening Internet websites,” Yuri Zisser said.
