Azarenka 22nd in WTA rankings

       Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka closed the year 2015 on the 22nd position in the WTA rankings with 2,276 point.
Fellow Belarusian Olga Govortsova is 71st with 851 points. Another Belarusian Alexandra Sasnovich scored 610 and is 106th.  The 17-year old Arina Sobolenko won a tournament in India last weak and leaped into 385th from 460th with 94 points.
        The top three players, according to the current WTA rankings, include Serena Williams (USA), Simona Halep (Romania), and Gabrine Muguruza (Spain).
         The new tennis season will begin next week with competitions in the southern hemisphere.
On 3-10 January Victoria Azarenka will take part in the Brisbane International to gear up for the season’s first Grand Slam Australian Open, which will take place in Melbourne from 18 to 31 January. Victoria Azarenka won the Australian Open twice: in 2012 and 2013.
