A Belarusian delegation will take part in the events to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp from the Nazis in Poland, spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told reporters in Minsk.
Dmitry Mironchik welcomed the fact that this year’s celebrations will make an emphasis on the participation of former inmates. Among them there will be also those who currently live in Belarus:
      (record)
“The terrible atrocities committed by the Nazis in the Aushwitz/Birkenau concentration camp will remain forever in the memory of the Belarusian people who paid with millions of their lives for the liberation of Europe from the Nazis. It is our sacred duty to pay tribute to the memory of those killed, among whom were Belarusians as well. The peoples of Europe must do everything they can to make sure that the events that took place in the Polish Auschwitz in 1940-1945 will never happen again.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Poland Alexander Averyanov will lead Belarus’ official delegation at the events marking the 70th anniversary of Auschwitz liberation. Auschwitz survivors from Belarus also received invitations.”
