2014 saw 61 new national records in different sports, the press service of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism reports.
48 Belarusian athletes found themselves among national record-setters. The largest number of records (16) has been set by swimmers. Archers updated 10 record-high results, shooters - 9, cyclists- 8, weightlifters - 7, speed skaters – 4, water-skiers – 3, and track-and-field athletes - 1.
The leader in the number of new national records of Belarus was swimmer Evgeny Tsurkin.
In shooting records were set, among others, by Vitali Bubnovich, Viktoriya Chaika, Ilya Chergeyko; in weightlifting – by Diana Sazanovets, Anastasia Novikova, Peter Asaenok, and in athletics – by Andrei Kravchenko.
