Azarenka fails to get into Wimbledon third round

World No.8 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus failed to progress to the third round of the Wimbledon tournament losing 3-6, 6-3, 5-7 to Serbia’s Bojana Jovanovski (45). The match lasted for 129 minutes. The opponents traded same-score victories in the first two sets. The final set was a tough battle with Azarenka eliminating Jovanovski’s lead two times. The luck, however, was on the Serb’s side as she pulled herself together to take two games in row and win the match. In the opener Victoria Azarenka defeated Mirjana Lucic-Baroni (108) 6-3, 7-5. Olga Govortsova of Belarus (110) lost her opener to Spanish Silvia Soler-Espinosa (74) 2-6, 3-6.

In the Wimbledon men’s doubles Max Mirnyi of Belarus will pair with Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny. The Belarusian-Russian duet will start their run against the Austrian-Brazilian tandem of Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares. In the previous years Max Mirnyi reached the doubles final once. In 2013 Max Mirnyi and India’s Mahesh Bhupathi lost to Australia’s Todd Woodbridge and Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden in the final.
