Belarusian Dmitry Shershan wins silver at Judo Grand Prix in Budapest

Dmitry Shershan of Belarus has won silver at the international Judo Grand Prix in Budapest, Hungary.  In his 66kg division the Belarusian beat judokas from Georgia, Poland, Azerbaijan and Ukraine to reach the final where he fell to an athlete from Japan. Dmitry Shershan had a successful season, bagging bronze at the 2014 European Judo Championships in Montpellier, France. The Belarusian was also victorious at the European Open Madrid, Spain. 

Marina Slutskaya of Belarus (78kg division) who won silver at the European Open Madrid finished fifth in Budapest. 

Vadim Shoka (73kg) and Daniela Kazanoi (63kg) were eliminated from the competitions in the second round. Arif Bagirov (60kg), Vae Tutkhalyan (66kg), Darya Skrypnik (52kg), Yevgenia Zaitseva (63kg) finished their run in the opener.

Taking part in international competitions, Belarusian athletes continue warming up for the 2014 World Championships in Chelyabinsk, Russia in late August.
