Lukashenko, Putin meet in Beijing

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a meeting in Beijing, BelTA has learned.

 
The meeting took place at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, which is located in the western part of Beijing and boasts a history of over 800 years. It served as a country palace for recreation and entertainment for Chinese emperors. Originally, a platform for fishing (in Chinese “Diaoyutai”) was built there, and since then the residence has been known as the “imperial fishing platform.” Today, the complex hosts receptions, important international events, meetings, and negotiations. This location is also used to accommodate foreign dignitaries.
 
The meeting of President of Russia Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska was a good one. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement at the meeting. Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I congratulate you. Together with Donald Trump you’ve held a good meeting in Alaska. We applauded it hard. From the two sides (one shouldn’t say that someone won and someone lost) the two of you did a very good job. I looked up Ukraine’s response. Nothing to say. Only those to the west of us keep shouting it was bad. Well, it is always bad for them. I think they will wise up and will join the initiatives you have sketched out together with the U.S. president.”
 
Belarus will support Russia in the fight against modern Nazism, Aleksandr Lukashenko told the President of Russia. Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We are working together on all fronts. You know it. And we will keep working. When the U.S. president phoned [me], we discussed this problem. I told him we are one country. As a matter of principle, Russia is waging the war on its own. We support it and will support it however we can. I say it publicly.”
 
The Belarus president added: “[The conflict in Ukraine is] a disaster. Time will tell who is wrong and who is guilty. Very many will be grateful. Particularly in Europe. For the fact that once again in these complicated times we have to stop Nazism that could grow into fascism. This is why, Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], we will fulfill our role and our function together to the end.”
 
International events in China offered opportunities for communication with many world leaders, the Belarus President added. Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We had an opportunity to talk to all the presidents. Even to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We hadn’t met for a long time. We exchanged some things and had a talk. It is also very important.”
 
Wereported earlier that while in China Aleksandr Lukashenko held multiple informal meetings with foreign leaders as well as negotiations with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

21st June was fifth International Yoga Day observed across the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2019 was "Yoga for Climate Action”. On this day, which is dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body, people across the world practice yoga in groups. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice.
