Lukashenko: Belarus seeks advanced, meaningful relations with Algeria

Belarus would like to develop advanced, meaningful partnerships with Algeria, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said on 26 May during a meeting with Speaker of the National People’s Assembly of the Algerian parliament Ibrahim Boughali, BelTA has learned.
 
Welcoming the foreign guest on Belarusian soil, the president voiced his hope that the visit would be productive from a professional perspective. “But the most important thing is that you feel, deep in your soul and heart, that the people here are not strangers to you,” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.
 

“We are completely open to your country and would very much like to have advanced, most serious relations with you. Perhaps the best among all the countries of Africa,” said the head of state. 

 
Belarus already has partner countries in North, Central, and South Africa, the president noted, and their assistance is expected to help deepen cooperation across the entire African region. “It would be very good if Algeria were one of those countries,” the Belarusian leader continued.
 
Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that during his official visit to Algeria in December 2025 and his talks with the country’s president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, he came to the conclusion that the economies of the two nations are entirely compatible. “We can offer you the things you don’t have. Meanwhile, you can help us develop the fields where we truly need assistance,” he said.
 
The head of state shared that his meeting with the Algerian leader left the greatest impression on him from the entire visit. “He is an experienced and very intelligent man. We can accomplish a great deal if he adheres to the policies he now advocates,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated confidently. He asked that his warmest and most heartfelt wishes be conveyed to Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
 
According to the Belarusian leader, a number of specific measures were outlined when the cooperation roadmap was being drawn up. “First and foremost, I would very much like these measures to be put into action. Secondly, [I want] them to become the bedrock of our partnership. When we begin building relations with any country, both sides always talk about anchor projects, significant flagship initiatives. Such projects have been identified. I very much hope that Algeria’s parliamentarians will engage seriously in implementing them.”
 
“You are an influential figure in Algeria, so I ask you to take a close look at our industrial and agricultural facilities. Every door is open for you. Then reach your own conclusions about the path forward for our cooperation, particularly in establishing joint ventures,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said addressing his guest.

21st June was fifth International Yoga Day observed across the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2019 was "Yoga for Climate Action”. On this day, which is dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body, people across the world practice yoga in groups. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice.
