Young talents from 19 countries to compete at Vitebsk children’s music contest

Belarusian singer Yelizaveta Tsuprik will take the stage at numbers 17 and 2 during the 24th International Children’s Music Contest Vitebsk. The drawing ceremony took place in the small hall of the Vitebsk Concert Hall, BelTA has learned.

The contestants discovered their draw numbers inside a shaker and on a Slavianski Bazaar branded T-shirt. Estonia’s Vivienne Elts will kick off the first day of the contest, with Kyrgyzstan's Alimkhan Muratov performing at number 19. Day two will open with Mongolia’s Nomuundari Ganzorig, while Georgia’s Barbare Morgoshia will close out the show. The dreaded number 13 went to Shirin Azizova from Uzbekistan and Alexa Vardanyan from Armenia. Belarus’ own 14-year-old Yelizaveta Tsuprik will take the stage at number 17 on Day 1 and number 2 on Day 2.

“I will sing two songs. One of them is My Home by composer Valery Shmat. The second is Over The Rainbow, the soundtrack to The Wizard of Oz,” the girl said.

На Young talents from 19 countries will showcase their artistry at the 24th International Children’s Music Contest Vitebsk. They are set to perform songs by Slavic authors alongside soundtracks from popular animated and live-action films, cartoons, and youth musicals. The jury is headed by Ilona Bronevitskaya, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, singer, actress, and TV presenter. She noted that judging young performers is always a challenge. “Of course, we look at their natural gift, talent, and the work they’ve put in with their vocal coaches,” the singer said. She advised the young stars to be fearless, noting that stage fright is a contestant’s biggest enemy. Ilona Bronevitskaya also emphasized that those who don’t win must understand that tomorrow brings new opportunities, and they can achieve great things through hard work. “The more children sing, dance, and act in theater, the better our world will be. It is a major contribution to our bright future,” the jury chair added.

Jury member Vasily Rainchik, People’s Artist of Belarus, composer, musician, and artistic director of the Verasy ensemble, wished the young contestants good luck and high spirits.
