Belarusian MP: Constitution sets direction for society’s development

The Constitution defines the vectors along which society lives, said Natalya Pavlyuchenko, Chairwoman of the Standing Commission on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development of the Council of the Republic of Belarus, commenting on the organization of voting in the constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan, BelTA learned from a video released by the press service of the Council of the Republic.

Natalya Pavlyuchenko took part in monitoring the voting process as a member of the observer delegation from the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member States. The member of the Council of the Republic noted that the country’s new Basic Law sets out the future directions along which Kazakhstan’s society will develop.

“The conditions for voting and access to polling stations should be as dignified as possible. We have noted the fulfillment of these aspects as well as the active participation of voters, both older generations and young people. This means that Kazakhstanis care about their future and the future of their country. And that is very valuable,” Natalya Pavlyuchenko said.

During their observation, members of the monitoring group also focused on ensuring the secrecy of the vote and the free expression of voters’ will, as well as assessing the conditions created at polling stations for citizens with disabilities.
