Belarus intends to increase the supply of agricultural products to Russia’s Moscow Oblast through the commodity exchange, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).
In 2025, companies from Moscow and Moscow Oblast ranked first in terms of the volume of purchases of agricultural products at BUCE, surpassing not only participants from other Russian regions but also residents from non-CIS countries in this indicator. The structure of transactions was dominated by imports of butter, powdered milk, and meat products, which together accounted for 95% of the total. These product groups were in the highest demand among Moscow-based companies.
Plans are in place to attract new buyers to exchange trading in order to ensure further growth in supplies of Belarusian agricultural products to Moscow Oblast. On the sidelines of Prodexpo in Moscow on 9-12 February a delegation from BUCE is holding negotiations on cooperation with a number of trade organizations and manufacturing enterprises interested in importing agricultural products from Belarus. The primary focus is on potential buyers of dairy products, meat and semi-finished meat products and amino acids and wheat gluten. In 2025, these goods were purchased at BUCE by 99 business representatives from the city of Moscow and Moscow Oblast. For comparison, in 2024, the number of such importing organizations was 1.5 times lower.
Overall, over the past year, Belarusian agricultural enterprises accredited at BUCE sold their own products through via the commodity exchange for a total of $1.3 billion. It was 30% more than in 2024. The largest sales markets were Russia, Poland, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. At the same time, the pool of foreign companies that regularly purchased agricultural products grew from 296 in 2024 to 499 in 2025.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
