Belarus, Uzbekistan to step up strategic partnership in agriculture

Belarus and Uzbekistan are going to reinforce strategic partnership in agriculture. The matter was discussed during negotiations involving Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yuri Shuleiko and Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov with a delegation of Uzbekistan at premises of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

During the negotiations the Uzbek delegation was led by First Deputy Economy and Finance Minister of Uzbekistan Ilhom Norqulov, who is in Belarus on an official government visit. The delegation also included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov, representatives of domain-specific ministries and the private sector of Uzbekistan. Heads of Belarus’ leading meat and dairy companies took part in the negotiations on the Belarusian side.

The parties discussed key aspects of trade and economic cooperation in agribusiness, including matters of the pricing policy, the expansion of deliveries of food and agricultural raw materials as well as the realization of joint projects. Close attention was paid to increasing the export of Belarusian goods to the Uzbek market, including products that have been certified for compliance with Halal requirements.

The dynamics of trade cooperation demonstrates confident growth: in 2024 Belarus-Uzbekistan trade in food and agricultural raw materials increased by 37.5% in comparison with 2023, with Belarus’ export going up by 40.4%. In January-August 2025 the trade turnover increased by 55.5% in comparison with the same period of last year, with the growth rate of export of Belarusian products to Uzbekistan at 152.3%.

The Belarusian side stressed the lack of problems in bilateral cooperation and expressed readiness to ensure stable and scalable shipments of high-quality beef. Belarusian meat and dairy industry enterprises confirmed they are interested in further expanding their presence on the Uzbek market and are ready to ship more, provided the logistics and the pricing policy are favorable.

During the meeting it was noted that both sides interact tightly in the course of implementation of current projects and promising ones. During the visit the Uzbek delegation will go to a number of Belarus’ leading agribusiness enterprises where it will get familiar with manufacturing facilities, quality control systems, and capabilities for expanding the range of exports.
