CSTO FMs discuss boosting organization’s role in global security

The foreign ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) held a meeting on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

During the negotiations, the ministers discussed measures to strengthen the organization’s role within the international security system, and prospects for advancing the collective initiatives of the member states on the global arena.

Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov informed his colleagues about the preparations for the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, scheduled for 28-29 October 2025. The foreign minister emphasized the importance of participation by the CSTO member countries, noting that it would be a significant contribution to shaping the security architecture in Eurasia.

The conference plans to host panel sessions on its sidelines, including a panel on the prospects for collective security in Eurasia and a session titled Migration in Modern International Relations: Towards More Orderly and Safe Movement of People.

Particular attention was paid to the Belarusian-Russian initiative to prepare the Eurasian Charter for Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, which is designed to strengthen the principles of sovereign equality, indivisible security, and respect for different development paths. The minister invited the CSTO member states to actively participate in discussing the charter at the conference and stressed that joint work on the document would help enhance the CSTO’s role and recognition in the international security system.
