Mogilev gears up to host CIS Marathon Championship

Mogilev is gearing up to host the CIS Marathon Championship, Belarus’ Open Marathon Championship, and the Mogilev International Marathon on 28 September, the organizers said at a press conference, BelTA has learned.

The Mogilev International Marathon will be held for the sixth time and will be conducted simultaneously with the fourth Belarus’ Open Marathon Championship and the CIS Marathon Championship, which Belarus is hosting for the first time,” Dmitry Sivov, Director of the Mogilev Regional Olympic Training Center for Athletics and Game Sports, told the media.

“Belarus’ open championship will determine the best athletes in this discipline in our country and also the best team,” Dmitry Sivov said. “For the first time in the history of our country, we will host the CIS Marathon Championship. Teams from Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan have already confirmed their participation. The participation of the Kyrgyzstan team is still under discussion. Each country will be represented by three men and three women. Selection for the Belarusian national team was based on approved criteria, the key one being participation in the open half marathon in Minsk on 7 September.”

All races will start and finish at the N2O fitness and wellness center. The most popular 3km race will begin at 10.00 in the morning. It will be followed by the 42km, 10 km and team relay at 11.00
The main running event in Mogilev is growing more popular. Alongside professional athletes, amateur running enthusiasts will also be participating. Applications are still open. So the list of participating countries is not yet final,” noted Dmitry Latenkov, Head of the Sport and Tourism Department of the Mogilev City Executive Committee.
