Sultanbaev: Belarus, Kyrgyzstan seek closer bilateral cooperation

Belarus and Kyrgyzstan intend to intensify their bilateral cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus Erbol Sultanbaev said during an event to mark Kyrgyzstan’s Independence Day and the opening of a Kyrgyz photo exhibition at the House of Friendship on 28 August, BelTA has learned.

“The Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Belarus are active participants in integration associations such as the CIS, CSTO, EAEU, SCO and others, where they generally hold similar positions on the international agenda and on the need to deepen integration processes,” he emphasized. “Cooperation is steadily developing in global international forums, including the UN, OSCE, UNESCO and others. I would like to take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude to the Belarusian side for being among the first to support the Kyrgyz Republic’s candidacy for non‑permanent membership in the UN Security Council in 2022.”

The ambassador also added: “Independence Day symbolizes the unity of the people of the Kyrgyz Republic, who have come a long way to build their statehood. Throughout our history, from the earliest known reference to the Kyrgyz people in Chinese sources to the present day, our ancestors have sought to preserve freedom and independence for the sake of future generations. The Kyrgyz people have faced numerous historical trials on the path to establishing and safeguarding their independence and statehood. As a result, our nation has proven its vitality, possessing the potential to overcome various social and political crises by integrating itself into the broader historical process and continually undergoing transformation.”

The diplomat highlighted the country’s economic achievements and noted that Kyrgyzstan continues to pursue an open, consistent, and balanced foreign policy aimed at building and comprehensively developing equal relations with all UN member states and international organizations, placing universally recognized principles and norms of international law at its core.
