Belarus and Serbia are exploring opportunities to advance their cooperation despite complex external challenges, Belarusian Ambassador to Serbia Sergei Malinovsky said in an interview with the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.
“The geopolitical situation inevitably has an impact. Between Belarus and Serbia there are countries that have either imposed sanctions against our nation or joined them. Although Serbia has not introduced any barriers to Belarusian exports, allowing for potentially robust economic collaboration, this situation unfortunately still has a negative effect. Together with our Serbian partners, we are now seeking ways to sustain and expand cooperation under these circumstances,” said Sergei Malinovsky.
Belarus and Serbia have resumed the work of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. “A Serbian co-chair of the commission has been appointed. We organized his visit to Belarus, where he got familiar with our new high-tech products. Serbia has shown particular interest in areas such as our electric transport solutions. These cooperative avenues have been formalized in joint documents, and the commission has held a meeting. Now, we have a signed roadmap for bilateral cooperation over the next three years, outlining several concrete initiatives. We aim to further develop and revitalize our institutional mechanisms. Plans include enhancing agricultural cooperation, with a working group meeting scheduled before the end of the year,” the ambassador said.
Plans include strengthening cooperation in transport, tourism, and high-tech sectors. “Our working group on scientific and technical cooperation is already functioning successfully. We have plans to organize a joint competition for science and technology projects. Of course, industrial cooperation remains highly relevant. It has traditionally been a strong area of our exports to Serbia. Even if there are certain difficulties today, we will undoubtedly continue working toward long-term prospects,” Sergei Malinovsky added.
